Open the web studio in your browser and drop in a folder of trip photos. It lays out the whole book: maps, chapters and captions. Then rearrange and rewrite whatever you like. When it looks right, pick a binding and order. There’s no app and nothing to install.

Yes. The studio runs in your phone’s browser: swipe through the spreads, pinch into a page, design the cover and order, all from the phone. One caveat, and it’s Android’s: photos picked through an Android browser lose their location data. Add the same photos from a computer or by USB cable and the locations survive, or use the studio’s placing tool to put a photo back on its map.

No. Journeys is how you gather a trip; a Travel Book is how you keep it. You can make a whole book in the web studio without ever installing the app. Journeys is our free, optional phone app for collecting a trip’s photos and matching them to places. Handy, but never required.

Yes. Building and previewing your whole book is free. You only pay when you place a print order.

The only real wait is reading your photos in, and you’ll see a count as it goes. Once that’s done the book is already laid out. How long you spend after that is up to you. Order it as it is, or take your time over favorites and captions.

Yes. Save and finish later gives you a private link that reopens your book on any computer. It lasts 30 days from your last edit. Every edit resets the 30 days; just opening it doesn’t. There’s no account and no password. The link is the key, so keep it to yourself. You can also have it emailed to you.

Hardcover is the classic book with a hard cover, sturdy and easy to give. Lay-flat has thicker pages that open almost completely flat, so a photo or map can run across both pages without a gap. Softcover has a flexible cover on lighter paper, and it’s the cheapest. Lay-flat is the premium option; hardcover is the everyday one.

Three shapes: A4 landscape (11.7 × 8.3 inches, the widest), A4 portrait (8.3 × 11.7 inches, for photos shot upright), and A5 landscape (8.3 × 5.8 inches, the small one). You pick in the studio and can switch any time before you order.

That depends on the binding. Hardcover runs 24 to 252 pages, priced in six tiers (40, 72, 104, 152, 200, 252). Lay-flat runs 18 to 122, in four (40, 72, 104, 122). Softcover runs 20 to 104, in four (24, 40, 72, 104). Even a long multi-stop trip usually fits in the lower tiers.

Gloss paper throughout: 200 gsm in the hardcover, 190 gsm in the lay-flat and 150 gsm in the softcover, printed at 300 DPI. Every binding has a matte-laminated cover, rigid on the hardcover and lay-flat, flexible on the softcover.

Yes, all of it. Tap anything on a page and a panel opens beside it. You can rewrite any caption, swap two photos, give a picture its own page or the whole spread, pick a different layout, rewrite the intro, and reorder chapters and pages. Your changes stay put when the book re-flows, and “Start this page over” puts one page back the way it arrived.

Your route is drawn automatically from where you traveled. You can reframe and zoom each map so the part you care about fills the page, turn terrain shading on or off, and pick a different map style. Each style also sets the color of the paper it prints on. Restyle one map, or every map in the book at once.

Yes. Bring in a single journey or a whole multi-stop trip. Each leg becomes its own chapter with its own map.

Yes. From the studio you can send a private upload-only link, or show a QR code to the person across the table. They can add their photos and nothing else: they can’t see, edit or order your book. Their photos land in your pile, go into the right days, and the book re-flows around them. You decide what stays. Anything sent this way is deleted from our servers after 30 days.

Math. Every photo has a time and coordinates in it. Speed, spacing, altitude and the shape of the route are enough to tell a hike from a drive from a boat trip, and one trip from another. Nothing ever looks at the pictures themselves.

On your own device. They’re read in your browser and stay there. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to save a book link, invite someone to add their photos, or order the print. To draw your maps and look up each day’s weather we send a few coordinates and dates. That’s a dot on a map, never a photo.

No. We never look at your photos, and neither does any AI. They’re deleted for good shortly after your book is delivered. The one exception is if you choose to show us: when you ask for help from inside the studio there’s a checkbox, off by default, that lets us open your book to see what you see. Leave it unticked and we only get your message. See our privacy promise.

Your print file is kept only as long as our print partner needs to print and ship your book, then deleted. If you saved a draft, it’s kept for 30 days from your last edit. Every edit resets the 30 days; just opening it doesn’t. Then it’s removed automatically.
